Questions and answers

The quick answers to what people ask most. Still stuck? Ask JRC on Instagram, or send a question from your account.

Your US address

What name do I put on the address?

Your own full name goes in the First name box. The Last name box always holds the JRC identifier, exactly:

  • Air: JRCCOURIER
  • Sea: JRCCOURIER-SEAFREIGHT, and address line 2 stays RTABIZ-100032667 JRCCOURIER-SEAFREIGHT

The identifier is how the warehouse knows the package is for JRC and which way it travels.

What happens if I leave out the identifier?

An air package without JRCCOURIER in the last-name box may not be forwarded to Jamaica. A sea package without JRCCOURIER-SEAFREIGHT may not be forwarded, or may be sent by air with extra charges that can’t be refunded. Check the address before you pay.

The store won’t accept the address. Can I shorten it?

No. Don’t cut, move or remove the identifiers to get past a checkout. Message JRC before you order and they’ll tell you what to do.

Do air and sea use the same address?

No. Air goes to Hollywood, Florida; sea goes to West Park, Florida, Miami to Kingston. Use the address for the service you want, and pick the same service on your pre-alert. See both addresses.

Pre-alerts and invoices

What is a pre-alert?

A pre-alert tells JRC a package is on its way to the warehouse: the tracking number, the store, what’s inside, what you paid and the invoice. It isn’t a pickup booking, and it doesn’t mean the package has arrived. Send one as soon as the store gives you a tracking number.

Why does JRC need my invoice?

Jamaica Customs expects an accurate declaration and may ask for proof of what you paid. Upload the store’s invoice or receipt with your pre-alert. If you didn’t have it then, add it later from the package’s page in your account.

One order came in several boxes. What do I do?

Send one pre-alert per tracking number. If one invoice covers all the boxes, upload it to each and say so in the description, so the full order value isn’t counted once per box.

Tracking and collection

How do I track my package?

Log in and open My packages. Search by the store’s tracking number or by JRC’s waybill number. Each update shows who made it (JRC) and when.

The store says “delivered” but my account doesn’t show it.

“Delivered” from the store or carrier means it reached the warehouse door. JRC updates your account when the warehouse records it, which can be later. If you’re worried, open the package in your account and send JRC a question about it.

Where and when do I collect?

JRC tells you when a package is ready to collect, and how. “Arrived in Jamaica” doesn’t mean it’s ready yet: customs and sorting come first.

Prices, customs and rules

How much does shipping cost?

JRC’s prices aren’t on the website yet. Message JRC on Instagram with what you’re buying, roughly how big and heavy it is, and air or sea, and they’ll give you a quote. More about quotes.

Will I pay customs duty?

That’s decided by Jamaica Customs (JCA), not JRC. JCA uses a US$100 FOB threshold for goods bought online; above it, JCA says duties and taxes are assessed on the full CIF value (the goods, insurance and freight). Read JCA’s own page for your case. JRC’s shipping charges are separate.

Is there anything I can’t ship?

Some goods need a permit or can’t be imported at all, and airlines refuse some items even when customs allows them. Check JCA’s restricted and prohibited list and ask JRC before you buy anything you’re unsure about.

Your account

Who can see my packages and invoices?

Only you, once you’re logged in, and JRC staff. Other customers never see your packages, invoices or messages.

I forgot my password.

Use Forgot password on the log-in page. JRC will send you a link to choose a new one.
